The Amazing Spider-Man

The latest Marvel superhero to get the re-boot treatment has arrived and is ready for the big screen.
Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), like most teenagers, is trying to find his way through high school and is dealing with his first crush with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).
After Peter discovers a brief case that belonged to his father, he begins to find out secrets about his missing parents.
The names that keep coming up are Oscorp and Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) who was his father’s former partner.
As Spider-Man is set to collide with The Lizard we find out what choices Peter will make in becoming one of the world’s greatest superheroes.
Never having been a big fan of the original films but always a comic book reader, I was really hoping this time round I was going to find a good film.
The good news is I was not disappointed and with an all star cast also including Sally Field (Aunt May), Denis Leary (Captain Stacy) and the brilliant Martin Sheen (Uncle Ben) the film has a rich acting pedigree.
Director Marc Webb has done a good job, and the casting of Garfield is brilliant as he really is the perfect Spider-Man. Webb has also nailed the action/storyline and the scenes in which Spider-Man flies through the air now look more realistic, having looked a little cheesy in the previous films.
The only fault I can pick with the film is the running time, at 136 minutes it is way too long.
'The Amazing Spider-Man' is in UK cinemas from July 3rd
Rating: 7/10
